I’ve just returned from one of the largest conferences that attracts people working in my field. So, lots of fantastic academic papers, opportunities to mix with the leaders in the field, etc. etc.

At a social event, two men started chatting to me and my friends. They set in to talking about how…

Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practiced no cruelties. Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions, for safety in the streets, for child care, for social welfare, for rape crisis centres, women’s refuges, reforms in the law. If someone says, ‘Oh, I’m not a feminist’, I ask, ‘Why? What’s your problem?’

Virtual supermarkets are popping up in subway stations in South Korea, where commuters can virtually shop for items while waiting for the train to come. Customers simply scan an item’s QR code using the free “Homeplus” app and can have it delivered to their doorstep before they even get home. Ranked as the 2nd most hard-working country in the world to Japan, South Korea is rewarding its workers with this timesaving gem.

Wow! I kinda love this idea.

THE FUTURE IS NOW

Saw this somewhere else and felt the need to post it cause no one else ever really tells you this stuff

My mom never really noticed. She noticed when she was breast feeding my little brother and blood started coming out instead of milk.

My mom said she felt and saw a little lump in the shower. She was lucky enough she found it at stage 2

My mom had a mammogram. The radiologist thought the spots were just regular calcium deposits.
Turns out it was triple negative breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nods. Mastectomy, radiation and chemo saved her life.
This could SAVE a life.

Signal BOOST and pass it on. I had a breast cancer scare before (luckily it was just scar tissue…) and information like this kept me calm and collected at the doc’s.

If you are a man who takes issue with feminists using the word “men” to refer to men as a class, I suggest you take up your complaints with the dudes who are making saints like you look so bad.

Women are not your problem. If you have enough time to complain to a woman about how…

Jocelyn Bell Burnell (b. 1943) discovered neutron stars and pulsars when she was a graduate student.
Neutron stars are one of the possible endings for stars— they are incredibly dense (for perspective: 1 tsp. of neutron star would be a billion tonnes on Earth), and can be created when a star’s remnants collapse in on themselves following a supernova.
When neutron stars rotate, they are called pulsars. Because of this rotation, they appear to give out “pulses”
